When you look at this graph, you might see the big jump to 2nd place by Team 11 – Dragons make in the middle of the game.  In talking with a Captain for this team, he revealed that one team member had a great idea to get big points but could not get the team to listen.

This event has a 15 minute midpoint debrief that is lead by Leaders and Captains.  During this time, the Captain coached the teammate in different ways to get the group to listen to his ideas.  It took 10-15 minutes after the midpoint but the teammate broke through and get the team to accept his idea.  You can see the progression where the team makes a significant gain, all the way to 2nd place.

Side note: This team walked into a big valley and now needed to climb up the hill to return and they ran out of gas to continue scoring.

This team taught me that sometimes you don’t need to win, to win. And that if you learn the lesson of leadership, you can have a big impact on your team.

What can you learn from the top youth of the world?
